BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT)

Admission requirements

  1. KCSE with a minimum aggregate grade of C+ and above or its equivalent, or equivalent qualifications recognized by Senate;

    or

    Diploma from accredited tertiary institution with a minimum aggregate grade at pass level

    or

  1. ‘O’ Level Division III or equivalent plus a Post- Secondary Certificate and Diploma from accredited institutions,

    or

  2. ‘A’ Level with two Principal passes and a subsidiary.
  3. Any other qualification approved by university senate.

Duration of study

The degree courses of study shall be for a four academic year duration. Each Year is divided into 2 semesters.

Academic calendar

The academic calendar is divided into two semesters namely:

September – December, January – April  

Direct Entry

KCSE or equivalent certificate with a minimum mean grade of C+. In addition, Applicants are expected to have obtained at least a grade C (C Plain) in each of the following cluster of subjects in KCSE examinations:

Cluster Subjects

Group I: English, Kiswahili, Mathematics

Group II: Biology, Physics, Chemistry

Group III: History and Government, Geography, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education, Hindu Religious Education

Group IV: Home Science, Art and Design, Agriculture, Aviation Technology, Computer Studies

Group V: French, German, Arabic, Music, Business Studies

Or.

ii) KACE or equivalent Certificate with a minimum of the principal passes and O level Credit in Geography/ History and English.

Or.

iii) Diploma in relevant disciplines in the field of hospitality and tourism from an institution recognized by the University Senate with a minimum of pass.

Entry via Pre-university Program

i) A holder of KCSE certificate or equivalent with a mean aggregate of C (plain) with C (plain) in any three of the cluster subjects stated above.

How To Apply

Fill in application form that can be obtained from the university website. For undergraduate courses Ksh.1500 is paid to university account and then download the admission documents from the university website, fill the documents, and submit the documents on the registration day.

Other Course Details

Mode of study
The degree programs will be offered on a full-time basis at Murang’a University of Technology and through online learning.

Graduation requirements
The students will graduate after passing all the units of study, attachment and payment of the graduation fees.

Classification of degree
Bachelor’s degree.

Fees
Fees is paid as per MUT fee payment policy which can be accessed through university website at the admissions section under fee structures www.mut.ac.ke

For Government sponsored students (first years)
Bachelor of science in Hospitality, Tourism and Travel and tours tuition fees = 37,460 per academic year + 13,770 for industrial attachment.

For Government sponsored students (2nd, 3rd, and 4th years)
Bachelor of science in Hospitality, Tourism and Travel and tours tuition fees = 34,460 per academic year + 6750 for industrial attachment.

For self-sponsored students (First Years)
Bachelor of science in Hospitality, Tourism and Travel and tours tuition fees = 139,960 per academic year + 6750 for industrial attachment.

For self-sponsored students (2nd 3rd and 4th Year)
Bachelor of science in Hospitality, Tourism and Travel and tours tuition fees = 138,460 per academic year.
